Beautiful Darling (2010)
dir: James Rasin
Candy Darling is one of Andy Warhol's superstars. That transsexual diva, a blonde beauty with a dream of becoming an adorable Hollywood goddess, was born as James Slattery. In the mid-1960s, she appeared in the famous Factory and became part of New York’s bohemiam circle. She played in Warhol's and Morrissey's films (Flesh, Women in Revolt) and played in avant-garde theatres. It was her that Lou Reed wrote several important Velvet Underground songs for. Her extraordinary life, exceptional beauty, charm as well as premature death (she was twenty nine and died from leukemia) made her a legend. (ENH)
