The White Ribbon (2009)
Original title: Das weiße Band
dir: Michael Haneke
The White Ribbon is a 2009 black-and-white German-language drama film written and directed by Michael Haneke. Its original German title is Das weiße Band, Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte, which fully translates as "The White Ribbon, a German Children's Story". The film darkly depicts society and family in a northern German village just before World War I and, according to Haneke, is about "the origin of every type of terrorism, be it of political or religious nature."
