Dogtooth (2009)
Original title: Kynodontas
dir: Giorgos Lanthimos
Dogtooth is a Greek drama film that won the Prix Un Certain Regard at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. A married couple and their three children, an elder son and two daughters, live at the outskirts of a city. There is a fence that surrounds the house and the children have never been on the otherside of it. The children are cut-off from the outside world. They are tricked into beliving that the airplanes that fly overhead fall to the ground as toys, and everyday words have dual meanings (zombies are flowers, and the telephone is the salt cellar).
