Nearly perfect film debut by Nikonova. Marina is realistic psychologically but what she does is surprising and striking at the same time. The style of filmmaking reminds of Balabanow or Smarzowski. The director is not afraid of revealing the sins of her own nation, the ordinary people's sins, often being swept under carpet. And last but not least: Olga Dykhovichnaya is such a beautiful woman that you can easily fall in love with her even if you see her getting raped by a really bad cop.
