I half-shamefully half-proudly rate Ratatouille as a masterpiece. It is beyond my comprehension that so few people would enjoy this movie in its full glory. Just like Anton Ego becomes a child again tasting ratatouille, the child in me celebrates the genius behind this movie. To be honest, I would rate it between "exceptional" and "masterpiece" if I could. What strikes me most is the beauty of the pictures. In full HD, it's just fantastic. The similingly kitsch images of Paris are in fact the crystallization [...] Read more

Rather formulaic movie, quite obviously meant for children without much nuance or surprise for adults, but pretty enjoyable nonetheless if you just go along for the ride. The animation is undeniably stunning, and it's always good to see (or hear) Patton Oswalt. I felt it lost some steam at times and could have been trimmed in places. An uninspiring but solid effort from Pixar.

The Pixar formula is wearing thin. The baloney quotient is awfully high, even for movies of this stripe. Why does everybody love this silly thing so much?

A fine film, but I feel it's generally been a tad overrated.

Rat. takes Pixar several laps over other studios again. This time not just technically superior, but also story has a thick fabric. At times it even feels like realism tradition of european cinema , other times usual wishful thinking paves the way smoothly. If Pixar movies can be considered a kind of tweaked genre movies, Ratatouille has the most touch on real life. A quick half hour cut that leaves out the Hollywood bits from Rat. would reveal a movie much harsher in nature.

A tasty piece of a film for viewers of all ages. Great thanks to the makers for not taking an easy way of gags and parody to induce laughter - the references in this film are restricted mostly to camerawork and editing, which doesn't make them less funny. It may very well be my favorite pixar animation.
