As far as I'm concerned, as a huge fan of Batman, this was a great final chapter to one of the greatest franchises of all time.
Christopher Nolan delivered a great story and paved the way for what a superhero movie should be. The dark and gritty world that Gotham City is set in may not be suitable for all superhero movies, but the serious tone throughout the trilogy is a refreshing change that I could get used to.
The acting is tremendous. Christian Bale delivers his best performance as the Caped Crusader. Anne Hathaway surprised me with how amazingly well she was able to portray Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Tom Hardy as Bane was a calculating menace that stole each scene he was in. Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman are great as usual. Marion Cotillard was stale, but was able to serve her purpose. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was great. It was fun trying to figure out what his purpose was.
