If being 17 now I was like the characters from the film, I would definitely kill myself

I am not a big fan of romantic comedies. Nor am I an admirer of teenager movies. However, there is a kind of genre that speaks to me well and it is a mixture of witticism and coming-of-age story. And no, I did not expect 17 Again to get any closer to this genre, but I hoped it might have been acceptable. However, listening to Zack Efron’s anti-sex-before-marriage speech in Steer’s film, I almost slut my wrists. First I thought it was supposed to be a funny bit in the film- Zack Efron played by Zack Efron being an old man turned 17 again simply shares his antique morals with fellow students, not being aware of how much the world has changed. But no, it’s not that. It is actually a real message to all you, dear watches, from your very dear idol. And if you didn’t get it the first time, then don’t worry. 17 Again is one of these films written by a sclerotic guy who just repeats the statement as long as you cannot sleep without hearing Zack’s little sweet voice in your head.

The story is too easy to follow (if there actually is any). It is about that guy from Friends whose name nobody remembers wishing upon a janitor to come back to his teenager years and consequently turning into Zack Efron. Obviously quite egoistically he first thinks the janitor sent him back to his adolescence to help him start a basketball career, but then finds out that it is actually all about his cute American family, white spoiled children and always sexy looking but smart as a comedy script allows, wife.

If you were shocked or surprised by the exaggeration with which Robert Pattinson’ handsome looks are being edited in the Twilight Saga, consider it subtle. Watching 17 Again is like watching a super car ad, but instead of a car, we see Zack Efron. Not only it is Zack Efron in slow motion, but also being shown from every angle possible, accompanied by slow and dreamy music. Yah!

The story goes its normal path and so out hero finds out that the real sense in life is delivered by true love and obviously sex after marriage. Well done, Mr. Steers, you’ve just made me want to become a slut.
