Watchmen (Gilles_de_Rais)

By the way what does DK2 refer to? Hope it is not Donkey Kong 2 :D, Dark Knight returns?

Watchmen (Gilles_de_Rais)

---SPOILERS--- I thought the film came clear on this issue, but knowing the comic letter to letter, I may be wrong. The logic behind Watchmen is if superheroes ever came to be in this world(not in an imaginary one that mostly resembles our world, but with it's own set of rules like most of the superhero comics reside in), how could it have happened. Masked vigilantes are whether hero or villain are just people in costumes. Some use athletics, tools at their will but nevertheless they are perfectly

Ridicule (Gilles_de_Rais)

English invented something called humor, how ridicilous! I watched this recently, quite good and memorable.

Inception (florianbiree)

Lol,, so true. But whatever hardware and os Nolan is running on it gets 10x faster with every vm instead of slower.

Inception Revealed (philip)

Nope, I didn't. The whole show is sitting on the shelf waiting for the opportunity. How does it relate to Inception in summary? Oh ok, he may be drowning. But still it's unlikely. We all know how movie language works, if the film wanted to depict the character as drowning, it would do so in a straightforward fashion. That portion is a very short one and not an underlıned one (unlike the closeup totem cuts), leaving it ambigious doesn't lead us anywhere. Anyway it's not that important, if your

Inception Revealed (philip)

Yeah, I can rewind :) (damn those pirates). We are talking about first 25 seconds here. Leo wakes up washed up to the coast (with very shallow depth, half of his mouth isn't in the water, his body is practically on the sand). Glances at the children building a castle, let's himself go or passes out -cut- he's poked by a rifle and so on. Our revisit to the scene Leo drifts inside the van drowning, Hewitt: "he'll be lost" Page: "he'll be alright" A huge wave washes along the screen -cut to the

Inception Revealed (philip)

Yeah I agree Nolan sucks when it comes to convey emotions. His cinema almost always work on a mathematical level, taking consideration of movie realm and the pile of movies he is building upon. In that way I'm happy to tag along with the mind games and watching the movie as a puzzle rather than identication. Anyway I rarely manage to identify with movie personas as I do with the filmmaker. Inception should have kept the convenience family values sub plot -the dead wife- at bay. Way too much time

Inception Revealed (philip)

There are few things hanging on my mind about the film. I find -whole movie is a dream- idea planted by the end deragotory of the film's success. It was extremely unnecessary and obvious thing to do. The infamous -is Deckard a replicant?- dillema is interesting, because it makes a reviewing of Blade Runner more interesting enhancing the core issue of the film. What good does it do to Inception, is there any reason I should care if the top layer is the real world of the film or the film is a sublayer? I

Hitchcock, the Noun & Adjective

Reha Erdem movies, he's currently my favorite director on the scene. A Ay is his first and may feel a bit amateurish and copycat. Kac Para Kac is his debut and a good watch but nothing major. Kosmos received incredible praise last year, I haven't still watched it, but grab that one. Ahaaa -Gemide-. Now that's a one time only effort from it's director, but it's wildly popular in cinema circles. Hope numerous crude language doesn't get lost in translation. Tabutta Rovasata is an underdog movie

Watchmen (Derekstar)

Since I only watched Ultimate, can't tell the difference to theatrical. Black Freighter and Under the Hood (mockumentary mainly composed from the chapter in betweens of the comic book) are seperate from the movie. Can't say Black Freighter means much outside the movie, Under the Hood adds nicely to the legacy, the footages, commercials and eighties tv look are totally nailed. For the movie itself, it's certainly different from what's out there, I guess it's underappreciated since most unaware of

The recommendations are screwed up.

Why are reccomendations so erratic? I had an import recently which only scored a few new films compared to the bulk of my ratings. Now all the ten pages of reccomendations are filled with perfect tens. In a nutshell how's this thing calculated?

+17 Rifftrax. Even riffers couldn't save this utter pile of shit.

Fast & Furious (2009)

+41 for Rifftrax and ability to skip boring parts.

The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009)

Truly uncanny premise on the same vein as Miike, but a one note film.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

What did the early Burton movies have in common, were they deep or complex? I guess not, but they had a real appreciation for the strange and bizarre with rich textures, imaginative details. And they managed to investigate the nature of coping with difference. This postmodern modification of the century old story only has a figment of those qualities, even the plasticised aesthetics is artificial. I think Burton had consumed too much of the pill that makes him small and minor.

For me in this particular case: Forced plot=detached viewing=inefficiency despite some good performances.

The Princess and the Frog (2009)

For a good 5 minutes reminded me how much I missed Disney animations. For the rest reminded me how much I didn't miss Disney animations.
