Watchable, but not good. The ridiculous skateboarding/BMXing criminals were a very big negative.
Great special effects, terrible writing.
Much worse than the first one. Terrible writing. Decent performances. Still watchable and amusing.
Kinda creepy, but badly paced and unevenly directed. Ultimately, it doesn't seem to have much point.
Like an overblown video game cutscene.
Really unfocused.
Decent, but the plot and running time drag.
First two thirds of the movie are very strong, but the last act is very weak. None of the characters or their motivations are sufficiently explored in the end. The last act is very hurried and trite, full of cheesy montages and contrived lines.
Uneven, but not bad.
Reminded me a lot of Idiocracy. It's a good concept that starts very strong but goes a little downhill. It becomes somewhat unfocused and unsubtle toward the end, but I still enjoyed it.
Amusing, but nothing amazing.
Fun and funny.
Surprisingly cliched, overwrought, and predictable. Still well directed and acted, though. Fantastic score.
Pretty good, but not up to The Squid and the Whale, and slightly forgettable. It amusing, but nothing very original. Greenberg is a pretty well developed character, but I found Florence a bit unconvincing.
Interesting take on product placement. Pretty funny.
Very good. Nothing extremely new from Tarantino, but very well made and very fun. The building of suspense was absolutely perfect. One might read some comments about violence in cinema into the film.
Very good film. It is certainly the best and most mature from Reitman. The one misstep, in my opinion, is having him do the whole character change thing by walking out in the middle of a speech - it's a cliche in a movie that mostly lacked tacky cliches. There are a number of interesting thematic threads and themes, too many to detail here. It might be interesting to compare this film to the cyberpunk movement in literature; they share a lot in common.
This is an excellent short. So many CG shorts seem to be mere technical displays, but in this short, the technical aspects of the animation are at the service of the themes of the film. And that is part of what makes it great. As another reviewer noted, there are hints of Jeunet. Everything works together well, and the music theme is a great little piece, too. Original, well-executed, and exceptional.
Pretty average. Enough laughs to be watchable, but not memorable.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen that I thought was comically bad.
